About my website

New website. First post. Let’s go!

I don’t think most people who post videos on YouTube have a website or blog as well as their channel. Maybe they don’t know how. Maybe it’s too much effort. Or maybe they simply don’t have time.

I’ve put this website up so I can provide more information than what’s in my videos. The channel will be mainly for Let’s Plays and walk throughs for games. So with the website, I’m going to do a few things:

Every time I post a video, I’ll post it on here as well. YouTube is great for watching loads of videos, but… I sometimes wish it would make things a bit easier. YouTube has channels and there are playlists, but for some reason there are no series for channels and viewers to make use of.

With the website, each video post will be tagged, so all the gameplays from the same game will be under the same tag. This will make it far easier for you to find all the videos from one game, for example. Or all my unboxing videos – or whatever.

I’m also going to post more on the website about me, my setup, starting YouTube and other topics. I might make videos from these, but all this information will be on the website, written down with hyperlinks to make it an easy reference for my readers. You can bookmark it, save it, come back and refer to it – it’s up to you.

I’ll also post hyperlinks for upcoming games or products or websites I’m interested in, in case you want to check those out. And of course, you can leave comments on each post, login with a social network account, ask questions and so on. I’m going to leave comments open on all posts to start with, but if there’s too much to respond to or traffic to the site just grows too much I may consider auto-closing comments after maybe 90 days.

For the future

There are some ideas for the website in future, for example I’ll use it to host polls, and maybe some competitions or giveaways if I get the opportunity. I’d also like to add searching and filtering for all the posts, categories and tags to make it super simple as the number of posts grows.

You don’t even have to keep an eye on the site – subscribe to be notified by email every time I post something new, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

So that’s my plan. It’s all just starting, and we’re near the beginning of 2017 so this is a good time to look at the year ahead and have a plan. If you have any thoughts or ideas for the website side of things, do let me know – leave a comment below.
